This low key lighting glamour shoot encapsulates the setup of the lighting when this type of a shoot is required, the two lights in the background help to bring out the models figure, and illuminate parts of his face without revealing too much of the subject IE facial features, adding shadow and diversity in focus points. The out line of the figure is most noticeable in the image, focusing mainly on the muscular tone and body the model has, drawing the viewers attention to those parts.
This image has a lot of shadow and depth of field due to the Low key lighting used in the shot, this helps to reveal and focus in only certain parts of the subject to the viewer, In this shot it is especially drawing in the subjects upper left side, in order to create this, the set producer would of had to position the light accordingly to bring attention to these parts. The darkness is cast on the subjects facial features and body, this is often used as a technique in glamour to give a romantic atmosphere and a flattering perception of the model.
The thought behind this image is really interesting, the fact that someone is holding the baby in a single arm, the black t-shirt they are wearing helps to disappear into the back drop and only add block tone, there is little contrast, the skin tone colour all merges into one apart from the silhouette that the baby makes on the mans arm, The shot connotes, new life, love, maturity and perception. The baby being naked shows it in its true, natural form the way that God supposedly intended, showing the innocence in all of creation.
The main themes of this shot are beauty, femininity and the naked body, The direction of light is really interesting in this picture as it appears as the though light is faced down towards to the models face, and that she is staring up into it, it gives the effect that someone is looking down at her and she is covering her naked body in attempt to cover herself from the viewer. The shadow and dark spots in the shot are created from the downwards position of the light and her attempt to cover up. Where the light hits different parts more stronger than others, it helps to add contrast and definition Eg, her face and her left arm.
The low key lighting in this shot, helps to only bring out the brightness of the geese and nothing else in the shot, I particularly like the subtle reflection in the water and the difference you can see between the shiny surface of the water, the glowing colour of the geese and the sky. The ones in the sky are just as bright and if not even more striking as they are very clear and dynamic. The frame and angle of the image is really effective as it is very even and only captures interesting elements, not creating too much dark space, the angle is also at a very low level giving the viewer a good perspective of the scene.
